about ACF
As Christians in a secular environment, Adventist students in non-Adventist colleges and universities can feel disconnected from their church.
The information here is for students who want to find other Adventists to fellowship with, and for people who want to help support these students.
The Adventist campus ministries movement is very diverse. This diversity is reflected by the many names and acronyms it wears. Below is a listing of names we know are being used. Adventist Christian Fellowship (ACF) is the name suggested for use in English-speaking countries.
- Adventist Association of Students
- Adventist Christian Fellowship (ACF)
- Adventist Ministry to College and University Students (AMiCUS)
- Adventist Student Association (ASA)
- Adventist Student Fellowship (ASF)
- Adventist Student Christian Movement
- Adventist Student Movement
- Adventist Students for Christ
- Campus Advent
- Federacion Adventista de Universitarios (FADU)
- Grupo de Estudantes Adventistas (GEA)
Please let us know of any other names that may have been missed.
Worldwide
Although there is not much of a central organization, the ACF movement does involve several major groups. The Adventist Ministry to College and University Students (AMiCUS) is part of the General Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists. This organization publishes a worldwide campus ministries magazine called Dialogue.
Some SDA unions and conferences have a leader for secular campus ministries. CAMPUS is an example of a conference-sponsored organization that has a mission that extends beyond the borders of the sponsoring conference (Michigan). The Adventist Student Association is a larger regional group covering Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and Papau New Guineau.
Finally, there are independent ministries and non-denominational organizations such as Campus Crusade for Christ, the General Youth Conference, IvyJungle that cover campus ministries and related areas.
North American Division
The North American Division established an official Adventist Christian Fellowship organization for its consituency in late 2005. Pastor Ron Pickell (profile available to registered users) is the leader. The constitution for NAD-ACF is available for download at the bottom of this web page.
